These images were captured on a 35mm compact Hanflex, representing my ‘mini-project’ at RAISE permaculture. I would like to say thanks to all students involved and to Chris and Patricia for their cordial hospitality. During the trip I was struck with the landscape and the beauty of the vernacular architecture, particularly the cob structures in the region, it was a real eye-opener. I didn’t understand all the conversation but it was very enlightening nonetheless. I hope that these photos convey something of the spirit of the place and the wonderful people that are helping to bring about a better and more environmentally aware society. I am happy that I have been able to play my part in the struggle to find a response to the environmental challenges we face and think that it also can be an empowering thing to become self-sufficient and be more efficient and in terms of our consumption of resources, by sharing information and resources we pave the way for a more equal and greener world.
