There are lots of features about the RAISE course in France that I liked and I would like to publish much more about the subject. I have found a good book recently called 'The Secret Life of Trees'. I would really like this to be my space for posting updates. There's a lot of information out there and some good campaigns here in Bath. People are showing that the fight to save the environment is really taking shape. Every day there are new plans and conferences as the media tends to focus on high profile events like COP30 happening in Brazil. I would like to extend my support and hope that the U.K can play a part in the discussion where we are all playing a role, I hope there is a more sustainable outcome for the amazon and there is more awareness now of the key issues. In the subjects that I study the environment is definitely becoming an increasingly important concern, and there's more information available about the work of early pioneers such as Rudolph Steiner and Rachel Carson.
You only have to look at recent events in the caribbean to see the full effect of climate change and how that is going to effect people going forward. I see there's no room for complacency at the minute. There's a lot we can do to organise and become more conscious of our role in the developing a response to climate change. Sharing knowledge and information is a good starting point and there are more NGOs nowadays that are doing this and people are definitely realising the urgency of the situation. In the course in France we saw how the village has undergone dramatic change and how permaculture can be a real force for positive change. By looking again at the environment there is much more for us to discover and everyone can do something, it is interesting how we all have various skills and they can be useful if we pool our ideas, we need to move beyond this way of life into a more meaningful and culturally diverse society that is deeply connected to Nature.
It seems to be the premise of a lot of the main ideas also we can recycle and reuse parts of the culture we're in, to repurpose parts and change use, is a good sign, as long as we respect all the people, is another thing I really learnt on the course and at college recently, it's good to have a strong community also online so that the new world can really come about, and we're basing a lot more on free education as well, and involvement in the local community. This is something I am definitely exploring, and I am getting better at relaying information, it seems there are a lot of local issues.
When I look locally I also see spiritual ideas, dreams, and charitable acts, (another step in the right direction) organising to benefit the community and taking care of the environment recycling improving the public transport and those kind of ideas. Carsharing is a good thing, as is another big issue here where to put the park&ride. It does concern me when people take these amenities for granted and don't contribute as much, we have to regenerate the inner city there are books on the subject to read, like 'defensible spaces' 'image of the city' 'utopia' works by Alan Rayner, Merlin Sheldrake and others.
These writers are definitely on to something, there appears to be a much bigger appetite for information about the environment at the moment and real dearth of stuff online but that is something you can address, in terms of design, and potential parks and schemes, park and ride and so on. Increasing the flow of resources to the NHS also and protecting the health of the planet is sign of a good philosophy and selfless attitudes are very significant and play a part all the time in the thinking process towards making a better society many sages have attested to this and we're in their debt because you can easily overlook the plight of others. To this end we should create more affordable homes, and definitely try to connect the social with the environment and provide skills and jobs.
Recently I also been thinking of college courses to skills up and skills bootcamps online to improve my contribution to society, my question to you is this what will you do to improve your environment today?
Unfortunately the U.S is not attending which is a shame.
